ZEN Bathroom

DSC03726.jpeg

When we started working on this San Mateo, CA bathroom remodel our client was overdue for an upgrade. The outdated bathroom had 1970s salmon pink tile, a very short built-in tub, and a dark and tight shower enclosure.

There were no recessed can lights; the only light was coming through the window and a tiny ceiling fixture.

The clients wanted to create a modern, relaxing space where they could soak in a jetted tub. We didn’t need to change the layout but in terms of interior design style it was a complete gut job.

We started by removing dry rot from the studs, and updating all electrical elements. We installed all new tiles, materials, plumbing fixtures, and lighting to modernize the space. The client’s style leaned toward Japanese modern, so we embraced it with warm wood tones, glass jade green tiles, and clean lines. The existing windows remain, but the modern materials surrounding them bring them into the 21st century.

We are super happy with how this project has turned out with its modern aesthetic. We chose modern, minimalistic finishes and fixtures, in White and Gunmetal Gray, with a Jade Green accents. The light wood cabinets add a touch of warmth and provide ample storage to a small space. The best part: 90% of this bathroom is designed according to environmentally friendly LEED standards.
